Nutcracker Makeover

When a friend gave us this Nutcracker he was a mess, but now he's fabulous thanks to a little paint and glitter! I love unconventional Christmas colors so I used silver and blue, which goes great with my DIY Ornament Wreath. This was a really fun holiday project and it gave me an excuse to drag out the glitter.

If you want to try this yourself here are a few tips:
  • If you can't remove the fiber hair and beard, cover them with plastic food wrap before painting. Rubber bands also help.
  • Once you've painted and glittered, coat with a matte finish acrylic-based sealant.  Use short bursts and spray in a side-to-side motion to insure that you cover all of the glitter.

I used FolkArt paint in Metallic Ice Blue and Extreme Glitter
